What does it cost?
Two of Magento's greatest attributes are that it's open source with a rich community of resources and expertise, and free: you get a leading, feature rich ecommerce platform out the box for nothing. You only pay for what you need. A Magento based ecommerce implementation can cost from £3000 to £300,000, depending on requirements. Factors affecting cost include:
-
Size of business
It a different proposition managing a website of 50 products that makes 20 transactions per week, to one that boasts 60,000 products and handles 40,000 transaction per week. A bigger business needs better automation and performance for managing catalogues, marketing and promotions, and operations. -
Amount of Integration
You may need to integrate your website with a procurement and inventory system, call centre, external affilliates, a merchant service provider, email marketing specialists and such. This usually involves making Magento communicate properly with other systems, and the more of these you have the more work is required. -
Your USP
Product that needs to be presented in a specialist way, or unique online features that make your site stand out will definitely enhance your online proposition, and usually require custom development. -
Legacy Catalogues
Your existing product catalogue will generally require careful restructuring before migration, so as to properly exploit Magento's features, and a large catalogue will require significantly more attention.
We understand the trade-offs involved when financing a website, and are able to provide strategic advise on how to extract value from your investment, and maximise your budget.
How long does it take
A trival Magento website can be designed and deployed quickly (days if instruction is accompanied with a good design brief). Of uncertain time are your additional requirements. Our Magento deployments have ranged from 2 weeks to 4 months.
